Question- What is an EPIC card and why is it necessary?

answer- EPIC i.e. Electoral Photo Identity Card issues Election Commission to every registered voter. This is usually called Voter ID Card. It contains voter photograph, name, address and a unique EPIC number. This number is different for each voter and it determines his identity. This card proves the identity of the voter during the election.

answer- If a voter has two voter ID cards, then you can surrender a card by visiting the Election Commission website https://voters.eci.gov.in/. For this, Form 7 has to be filled. In this form, one has to give the voter ID number, which you want to remove. After filling the form, the application will go for examination and if found correct, a card will be deactivated. This process is completely free.

Question- Can a person vote in more than one constituencies?

answer- A person can only vote in the same constituency where he has a voter ID card. All constituencies are also divided within a city. For example, if you are in Delhi and your voter ID card is known by South X, then you cannot vote from East Delhi.

According to section 17 of the Representation of the Public Representation Act, 1950, no person can add his name to the voter list of more than one constituency. One person’s name can be added to only one voter list and only one assembly constituency and he has to vote from there.

answer- Yes, if a person has been living on rent in another city for a long time, then he can get a voter card at the same address. For this, he will have to give address proof. Such as-

Question- If the old voter ID card (EPIC) is lost then how will a new card get?

answer- For this, first go to the nearest police station and register an FIR. Then take a copy of that FIR and submit 25 rupees to the booth level officer (BLO) or Election Office of your area. After this your new voter card will be made.
