Monsoon As soon as the beginning of the country, there are incidents of lightning from different states of the country.

In many states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Chhattisgarh, more than 25 people have died due to lightning, while many people have been severely scorched.

There have also been reports of lightning from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha and Himachal Pradesh with heavy rains. These incidents may be natural, but it is possible to protect them by adopting some important precautions.

So let’s ‘News of need’ Today I know what is the real reason for the lightning fall? Will also know that-

  • Who should be more careful?
  • How to protect yourself from the danger of celestial lightning?

Question- Why does lightning fall?

answer- The water drops and ice particles present in the clouds rub from the air, causing electricity -like charge in them. In some clouds, positive and negative charge in some. When these opposite charged clouds collide with each other, electricity is created. Usually this electricity remains within the clouds, but sometimes it is so fast that it reaches the earth. Electricity requires conductors to reach the earth. Trees, water, electric poles and metal items are made such conductors. If a person is near them or in contact, then he can be in the grip of electricity.

Question- Which areas are the highest risk of lightning?

answer- The farm, empty ground, hilly area is the highest risk of lightning in open and moist places around the river or pond. High or metal items present in these areas attract electricity. When there are black clouds in the sky, strong winds, thunderstorms, then the possibility of lightning increases. This danger is the highest between June and September.

Question- With which signs can the lightning fall can be identified?

answer- There are some signs in the atmosphere before lightning falls, which can fears danger. Understand them graphic-

Question- What precautions should be taken to avoid celestial lightning?

answer- The ’30 -30 rules’ to protect against celestial electricity is very effective. If the thunder is heard within 30 seconds of electricity, then immediately go to a safe place. Do not leave for 30 minutes after the last thunder. Some basic precautions should also be taken care of in such weather. Understand them from the graphic below-

Question- Why is it dangerous to use mobile during the rainy season or stand under the tree?

answer- Electronic appliances such as mobiles are made of metal, which can attract electric flows. Although electricity does not fall from the mobile signal, its metal parts can increase the danger, especially when you are in the open. At the same time, trees are high, so when lightning falls, they are first vulnerable to it. When the power falls on the tree, its energy spreads in the ground. In such a situation, the person standing under the tree may get a strong current, due to which there is a risk of burning, fainting or life.

Question- Why are farmers and laborers working in the field more risk of celestial electricity?

answer- Farmers and laborers often work in open fields, where there is no high building or safe shelter around. In such a situation, the person himself becomes a conductor, which increases the possibility of lightning on him.

Apart from this, metal appliances like shovel, sickle, tractor, irrigation pipes are used in the fields. Metal is a good driver of electricity, these devices can also attract electricity towards itself, which further increases the risk.

Question- What should be kept in mind to protect the celestial lightning while working in the field?

answer- While working in the field, clouds should stop thunderstorms or lightning should stop the work immediately and go towards a paved building or safe shelter. Standing with bare head or metal tools in the open field can be dangerous. If there is no paved building around, instead of standing in the open, sit on the ground by adding legs together, but keep the hands away from the ground. Along with this, some other precautions should be taken. Understand it from the graphic below-

Question- What to do if a person is in the grip of celestial lightning in front of you?

answer- Due to lightning, the effect of electricity in a scorched person immediately ends. He is not a threat to others. So do not be afraid, take some important steps to help him immediately.

Question- Can mobile app or technology help to avoid celestial lightning?

answer- Yes, technology is very helpful for protecting celestial electricity. The Government of India and Meteorological Department have developed many services and apps that warns of lightning in time. They get time to go to a safe place.

Damini Lightning Alert app This government app gives alert to fall lightning within a radius of 20-40 km around you. Sends notifications through GPS and also suggests prevention measures.

Weather Live, Sachet or Mausam App

This is the app of India Meteorological Department, which gives information about temperature, rain, lightning fall and weather warnings across the country. They also give alert at local level.

State Disaster Management Department app

Some states such as Uttar Pradesh and Odisha have launched their Disaster Management apps, which send location-based alerts in the event of lightning.

  • Odisha- ‘Satark’
  • Uttar Pradesh- ‘Rahat Sewa’

SMS and website alert

India Meteorological Department (IMD) releases meteorological warnings and bulletins through its website and mobile apps. In many states, SMS alert system is also active, which sends a warning of lightning and storm on registered mobile numbers.
