Recently, out of 531 cheese samples investigated in Punjab, 196 were found to be of poor quality and 59 for food. At the same time, 20 of the 222 desi ghee samples turned out to be 20 cheap and 28 insecure.

On this, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that cheese and desi ghee are among the most adulterated foods. He advised people to always buy these things from a reliable brand or make it at home, so that the risk of adulteration can be avoided.

At the same time, desi ghee is added to Dalda, margarine, starch, cheap oil, synthetic colors and flavors so that it looks like real ghee and smells.

  • Soybean powder tests can be done to check adulteration in cheese. For this, boil a small piece of cheese in water and let it cool, then add arhar dal powder or soybean powder to the water. After about 10 minutes, if the color of water or cheese turns light red, then it is a sign of the presence of detergent or urea.
  • Similarly, the purity of cheese can also be known by iodine test. Cold cheese boiled in water, if blue or black after a few drops of iodine tincture, it is a sign of adulteration of starch.

Ways to check the purity of ghee

  • The investigation of adulteration in ghee is also quite easy. Take some ghee in the bowl and add 2–3 drops of iodine to it. If the color changes then the ghee is adulterated.
  • Leave for some time mixed with concentrated hydrochloric acid (HCL) in ghee. If its color turns red, then understand that it is adulterated.

answer- Starch, detergent, urea, cheap oil or synthetic chemicals present in adulterated ghee and cheese damage the digestive system. This can cause problems like abdominal pain, gas, diarrhea or vomiting.
